Eurotech Enables Hyper-convergence Benefits Way Beyond the Data Center with its BoltCOR IoT Edge Server Portfolio
Eurotech today announced that its BoltCOR 30-17 Intel Xeon D-based Edge Server has passed VMware vSphere certification tests and is part of the VMware Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). The HCL lists all of the hardware components that are supported by each version of ESXi/vSphere. This allows the company to offer configurations to the market that can be combined with VMware vSphere certified and validated.
The BoltCOR 30-17 family of powerful, ruggedized edge servers, designed for demanding and rough environments, is addressing the needs of vertical markets like transportation, Industry 4.0/manufacturing, smart energy or retail. The BoltCOR 30-17 is a fanless EN50155 certified server with many configuration options, that is designed to exceed the requirements of rolling stock applications in the TX temperature class. The edge server’s compact 19” 1U rack-mount short-depth form factor allows it to be deployed even in most space-constrained on-board and track-side
installations. It is extremely rugged and suitable for any project where consistent performance, longterm product support and reliability are a must.
Combined with VMware vSphere these systems enable customers to gain also outside the traditional data center (in the field) similar positive effects that enterprise IT has experienced in hyper-converged solutions.
“In the Industrial IoT virtualization technology’s primary role is to enhance operational efficiency at the network edge,” said Robert Andres, Chief Strategy Officer, Eurotech. “Employing intelligent gateways and servers with VMware vSphere located at the edge of the network, enable not only the efficient support of legacy solutions but allow to add new applications like IoT virtualized gateway functionality or data analysis to be performed in a local facility, thereby generating real-time, insightful business
intelligence, that allows decisions to be made in the moment”.
“In the context of this trend towards edge computing, we are thrilled, that Eurotech offers systems that employ VMware virtualization and IoT technology, products and experience, taking it from its regular role in the data center or cloud and leveraging its benefits also at the edge closer to where data from things reside and processing will be necessary of the network infrastructure.” – Mimi Spier, VP Internet
of Things business, VMware.
