FBI and CISA advisory on Hive ransomware

The latest joint advisory from the FBI and CISA on Hive ransomware group shows that extortion tactics are working on their victims, and unsurprisingly, one of their biggest targets is the healthcare industry.

Our research showed between April 2020 and February 2022 the sector that suffered the most ransomware incidents was the healthcare and pharmaceuticals industry, with 71% of data disclosures in the sector involving finance & accounting data and 58% including patient data.

Organisations need multiple layers of defence against ransomware attacks in order to protect themselves. This includes not just technologies to detect potential intrusion, or lateral movement, but also implementing security controls, should the threat remain undetected, such as the use of file encryption.
