How cloud-based procurement technology can help public and private organisations gain a 360-degree view of their supply chains

Alex Saric, smart procurement expert at Ivalua, made the following comment explaining how cloud-based procurement technology can help public and private organisations to gain a 360-degree view of their supply chains, allowing them to evaluate suppliers and ensure they don’t support practices such as slavery and child labour.

“For too long there has been a lack of accountability and transparency in the supply chain, with organisations often having limited visibility into their suppliers’ practices. This has been exacerbated by increasingly global and deep supply chains, which make it extremely difficult for organisations to know if a supplier is sourcing labour responsibly and carefully. The application of smart procurement technology means that instead of simply assessing human rights standards as a ‘tick-box’ exercise when a contract is agreed, organisations can quickly assess and score supplier risk to ensure they are working with ethical partners. The principles outlined along with the application of technology should help lead to a reduction in unethical supplier practices and more humane supply chains.”
