Rushlift GSE takes Airside Operations trophy at International Airport Review Awards 2018

Rushlift GSE, the specialist airport ground support equipment subsidiary of Doosan Industrial Vehicles UK, has won the Airside Operations category of the highly prestigious International Airport Review Awards 2018.

The winning entry from Rushlift GSE centred on its ground-breaking contract to supply easyJet with 449 pieces of ground support equipment for the airline’s London Gatwick operations. In what is believed to be the World’s biggest ground services change in recent years, easyJet has increased flexibility and de-risked ground operations at London Gatwick by separating out the Ground Handling from the Ground Support Equipment in the contract with Rushlift GSE.

Traditionally, in the aviation sector, ground service operations are sub-contracted to specialist organisations that provide both the labour and the ground support equipment. However, in 2017 easyJet took the unprecedented step of deciding to lease ground support equipment directly and bring in contractors that would supply labour resources only. This was a radical move and a first for the sector.

Commenting on the Award win, Tim Willett, Operations Director GSE for Rushlift, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be judged the winner of the Airside Operations category of these highly acclaimed International Airport Review Awards. This is a fantastic achievement for the whole team.”

Anne-Marie McKenna, Editor of International Airport Review, commented: “Congratulations to Rushlift GSE, whose submission highlighted their forward-thinking approach and willingness to adapt to a changing industry. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this pioneering company.”

The Award Winners were announced in the December issue of International Airport Review.
