Siemens Logistics showcases its portfolio at the PTE

At the Passenger Terminal EXPO 2023, Siemens Logistics will be showcasing a wide-ranging portfolio of software, automation and service solutions for reliable baggage handling at airports. Trade visitors will be able to find out more about how they can make their systems – existing and new – even more efficient and more sustainable with Siemens technologies. Siemens Logistics will be welcoming interested parties and visitors to Booth 1260 at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Center from March 14, 2023.

One highlight will be VarioTip – a powerful solution for the automated unloading of baggage from unit load devices (ULDs). VarioTip can empty up to 20 ULDs – around 800 items of baggage – every hour, enabling consistently high and reliable throughput rates. This allows airports to considerably accelerate their ground handling processes and free their staff from physically heavy work.

With Baggage 360, Siemens Logistics will be presenting a highly developed application that uses cloud technology, sophisticated artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to optimize handling processes. The app offers a wide variety of functions, including for example real-time monitoring of operations end-to-end, an interactive map as a digital twin, and 24-hour forecasting of baggage volumes and arrival times. Trade visitors can experience Baggage 360 in detail with a live demo at the Siemens booth.

BagIQ is the latest version of the tried-and-tested, scalable high-level control (HLC) for conveyor systems. Dedicated software components such as allocation, planning, baggage sorting or early bag store monitoring interact seamlessly to control all baggage handling processes.

Technologies from Siemens Logistics help customers to achieve more with fewer resources. Take for example Baggage 360. This application provides airports with forecasting and optimization functions that help them to considerably increase the efficiency of existing systems – without any need for time-consuming conversion or expansion measures. What’s more, the predictive maintenance options included in Siemens Logistics’ SmartService program enable them to operate their existing baggage handling systems sustainably and extend the service life of their equipment. To this end, the condition data of the system is captured during operation and analyzed in real time. This makes it possible to detect wear and tear on individual components in good time and avoid system downtime.

With more than 270 exhibitors, the Passenger Terminal EXPO is one of the world’s biggest trade fairs for the airport industry, and is considered an important meeting point for the sector. The Siemens Logistics team is looking forward to welcoming customers and partners in person to Booth 1260 at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Center.
