For over 15 years, FERCAM and Transporeon have been working together to make logistics smarter, faster, and more transparent. FERCAM, founded back in 1949, is one of Europe’s most established logistics operators, known for its vast network and broad service portfolio, from road and rail to air and sea freight. They even have a specialised arm that handles moves, fine art, and trade fairs.
As FERCAM looked to the future, they realised that digital transformation wasn’t just a nice-to-have, it was essential. And Transporeon, a platform connecting more than 1,400 shippers and over 158,000 carriers globally, turned out to be the perfect partner to support that journey.
Data Driven Success
What began as a practical operational need has grown into a long-standing strategic partnership between FERCAM and Transporeon. This collaboration has enabled FERCAM to explore and adopt a wide range of both existing and emerging digital solutions. Through daily use of these tools, FERCAM has gained greater control over its logistics network, tracking vehicles in real time and continuously monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs). This data-driven approach supports the development of a structured roadmap focused on clear, forward-looking objectives.
Among the core solutions supporting FERCAM are Transport Assignment and Time Slot Management. Another key tool is Real Time Visibility, which provides end-to-end shipment tracking through seamless integration with FERCAM’s internal systems. Powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, this solution delivers two major benefits:
- Operational Efficiency: FERCAM gains complete visibility into the status of every shipment, regardless of whether it’s handled by its own fleet or third-party carriers within its network.
- Customer Transparency: This same visibility is shared externally, offering customers real-time access to shipment updates.
By actively monitoring both internal and partner fleets, FERCAM can deliver accurate, constantly updated estimated times of arrival (ETAs) for each shipment. This real-time precision is not only essential for customer service but also plays a crucial role in minimising empty kilometers, perfectly aligned with FERCAM’s broader sustainability goals and commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Improving efficiency, one stage at a time
Transporeon is currently developing a new feature designed to streamline the registration process for external fleets operating outside of the FERCAM Group. Once a carrier is onboarded and integrated into the FERCAM network, this step will not need to be repeated, making carrier data instantly visible and accessible across the entire organisation, as well as to FERCAM’s customers throughout Europe.
This enhancement, particularly within the Real Time Visibility module, eliminates the need for repeated integration efforts, significantly improving transparency and information-sharing across the network.

FERCAM strategically leverages integrated Transporeon tools that work in synergy to optimise operations and decision-making.
- Market Insights serves as a powerful market intelligence solution, supporting FERCAM’s pricing strategy with precise, forward-looking analyses. The tool generates comprehensive datasets enriched with real-time market benchmarks, which are made accessible to users through a centralised database.
- Autonomous Quotation complements this by automating the spot quotation process. It creates transport offers based on predefined conditions set by FERCAM, which are then refined through AI during order fulfillment—enabling faster, scalable, and more accurate quoting.
Each of these applications is versatile and can be used in multiple ways. As Carlo Pinamonti, Director Sales Europe and Sales Strategy of FERCAM’s FTL (Full Truck Load) division, explains:

Looking ahead, FERCAM has begun testing the e-CMR solution in 2024, aimed at digitising transport documentation. This innovation is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency, streamline administrative processes, and reduce environmental impact.
