iDTRONIC’s BLUEBOX Line: New RFID Panel Reader

The BLUEBOX Panel Reader is a new compact HF/NFC RFID Read & Write Module from the BLUEBOX Line. The Reader is round and small with a diameter of 28 mm and a thickness of 9 mm. The integrated antenna transfers data with a maximum speed of 115.200 bits by second. The Panel Reader is suitable for many applications. It is particularly well suited to integration into existing Access Control, Employee Identification, Automation Processes or for NFC Data Transfer.

► EXCELLENT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR YOUR APPLICATION
The Panel Reader is equipped with a 5 Vdc Power Supply. Additionally, the device requires a 2.5 W power supply for operation. The existing USB interface can read and write data in either a Virtual COM Port (VCP) or Keyboard Emulation (HID) mode. This enables fast and seamless integration into all existing Microsoft Windows systems.

► READ & WRITE FUNCTION FOR A WIDE RANGE OF TRANSPONDERS
The module is equipped with the RFID option HF/NFC: 13.56 MHz. The NFC frequency enables data exchange in near field environments. The HF/NFC frequency supports the ISO 14443A/B and ISO 15693 standards and reads and writes transponders of the MIFARE® Classic, Ultralight, Ultralight C, DESFire, Plus, NTAG and NXP transponder types.

► SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT & WINDOWS CONFIGURATION TOOL
A user-friendly software development kit (SDK) and configuration tool for Windows operating systems is provided as well as an operating system-independent command protocol. Further adjustments of firmware and hardware are possible on request and project basis.

► APPLICATION: ACCESS RIGHTS IN AUTOMATION
Different employees are assigned to different automation processes. Each process step must be monitored and controlled by one employee. The access rights for the respective process step must be determined beforehand. This data can be assigned and evaluated with the help of the Panel Reader. Automation devices are equipped with a kind of operating
panel. There, the reader can be easily integrated into existing
devices or interfaces. The two pre-drilled holes in the reader module make installation simple and safe.

The data can be transferred in two different ways. The transfer of all access data can be done using the Virtual COM Port mode via USB cable and special commands. The VCP mode offers complete read and write access for all supported transponders. In HID mode, user data from the supported transponders can be retrieved as keyboard emulation. The access rights can be uniquely assigned using the Panel Reader. An abusive use of the devices and systems is excluded.
