Microlise extends Transaid support for a further three years

Microlise, a connected asset provider to fleet operators and product manufacturers, has renewed its support for international transport development charity Transaid for a further three years.

A Corporate Partner of Transaid for six years already, Microlise was the first telematics and fleet management specialist to lend its support to the charity when the original agreement began in 2015. Microlise’s support has so far contributed over £120,000 of support to date to Transaid, to support its essential projects across sub-Saharan Africa.

Alongside financial contributions, Microlise continues to lend its technology and transport management expertise to support Transaid projects, with its staff also taking part in major fundraising activities.

When events can safely resume, Microlise will be fielding another large team of cyclists for Transaid’s Cycle Malawi. The challenge will be similar to a previous Cycle Zambia which saw more than 40 riders in total, eight from Microlise, who tested their limits for five days over a gruelling 490km cycle route.

Transaid CEO Caroline Barber said: “We are delighted that Microlise has renewed its partnership with Transaid for the next three years. We have an excellent working relationship with the team and the support Microlise has provided up until now has been invaluable.

“Partnerships with companies operating in the European transport and logistics sector are essential if we are to continue to address transport challenges in developing countries – particularly at this time as we work to counter the negative impact of the global pandemic.”

Founded by Save the Children and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Transaid has been transforming lives through safe, available and sustainable transport for more than 20 years acrosssub-Saharan Africa.

Nadeem Raza, Chief Executive Officer of Microlise, said: “Safe and sustainable transport is a topic that is extremely close to our hearts. Conditions in low and middle income countries are often not what they could be, and we think it is crucial that we do all we can to bring about positive change. One of the best ways we can do that is to support Transaid, whose interventions make a real difference.”

According to Microlise’s Transaid Ambassador, Andree Ball, “Those of us who have been lucky enough to take part in Transaid fundraisers in Africa have seen the excellent work being undertaken at a grassroots level. We are thrilled to extend our support – and maintain our friendships. In addition, I know our team of cyclists are looking forward to getting in the saddle again for Cycle Malawi and future challenges.”
