Zebra Technologies Corporation, an innovator at the edge of the enterprise with solutions and partners that enable businesses to gain a performance edge, announced today that the new Zebra® L10 Windows® tablet series is certified for AT&T and Verizon Wireless’ cellular networks. In addition, the rugged Zebra XSLATE™ D10 Android™ tablet has received full certification with AT&T’s Enhanced Push-To-Talk (EPTT) service for near real-time voice communications, highly secure messaging, and location features required for workers to stay productive in the field.
Zebra’s rugged L10 mobility platform which features the XSLATE L10, XPAD™ L10 tablet PC and the XBOOK™ L10 2-in-1 laptop/tablet, is WWAN-certified and compatible with AT&T and Verizon Wireless’ carrier networks. Separately, Zebra’s Android-based XSLATE D10 tablet is certified with AT&T’s EPTT service. Earlier this year, Zebra completed its acquisition of Xplore Technologies Corporation, a leading developer of semi-, fully- and ultra-rugged tablets, 2-in-1 laptops and a range of performance matched accessories. The new network certifications for these tablets strengthen the communications capabilities and productivity of mobile workers in the transportation, utilities, field service and public safety industries.
AT&T customers can now download the EPTT Android application on the XSLATE D10 tablet via the Google Play™ store. Key features include voice-based, one-to-one and group communications with up to 250 contacts, as well as the ability to transmit highly secure images, videos, files, and voice recordings to both groups and individual contacts in real-time. XSLATE D10 users can also share their location data with contacts, giving supervisors the ability to track group members or establish geo-fencing to manage the movements of workers in and out of a job site.
The new AT&T and Verizon certifications further extend the communication offerings available for Zebra’s industry-leading enterprise mobile computing solutions. Zebra also offers Workforce Connect (WFC) voice and message solutions for other parts of its mobile computing portfolio, providing numerous communication features that work over WWAN and WLAN networks and helping connect mobile workforces in the field, retail stores, warehouses, manufacturing plants and hospitals. WFC also leverages services such as PTT, secure text messaging and PBX phone functionality powering a more collaborative mobile workflow at the edge of the enterprise.
“Professionals performing field service and asset management need to instantaneously connect with one another while on the road as well as in the field and require reliable mobile computing solutions that facilitate continuous, two-way information flow between front line workers and the back office,” said Tom McNeela, Senior Director of Enterprise Mobile Computing Product Management, Zebra Technologies. “The addition of these new network certifications enhances Zebra’s enterprise-grade mobile computing portfolio and provide industrial and public safety customers with the performance edge needed to excel in demanding environments.”
